19 July 2011 Club News You know that we, as a Club, have to relocate from the WMC and Leighton Town Football Club offered us the use of their facilities. Yesterday, your Committee unanimously agreed to take up the offer. This presents a great opportunity for us to establish links with Leighton Town Football Club and to build up our profile locally. I, Rachel and the Club Captains are available should you want any further detail regarding this move and for your questions. There are some issues and concerns that we have to resolve regarding the move and I, as your Chairman, will be the liaison point with LTFC and LBHC. I hope you will all see this as a positive step forward in the history of LBHC and hopefully a win win situation for both LBHC and LTFC. Ken Mounter - Chairman

VERY IMPORTANT NEWS
Unfortunately, the WMC Committee have taken the decision that the Club will cease to trade. I was told by the WMC Secretary just before our Committee meeting on the 6th of June. I am disappointed but fully understand the reason behind it. At the time of writing I do not have any further detail to give you, the Hockey Club members, except that we will not be using the facilities of the WMC for the forthcoming season. Matt and I will be attending a meeting at the WMC next Wednesday at which I anticipate more information will be given and presumably what happens to the subscriptions we have paid for the coming year.
We, your Committee are now working hard to find a suitable replacement for the Club. It may be we have to consider an interim stop gap which, if is the case, I ask you all to bear with us until we do find our new home.

Dinner & Dance
Again this year at Abbey Hill Golf Club - Two Mile Ash -
Milton Keynes - MK8 8AA. Saturday April 9th, arrive from 6.30pm to be all
seated at 7pm. Just £30.00 per person. Gents Black Tie, Ladies dress to
impress. A coach will be arranged nearer the date with return journey costs
to be confirmed.

Subscriptions and Match fees
You know who you are if you've not been paying. Remember all yearly subscriptions must be paid in full before 31 December 2010. It was highlighted at committee on Monday 6 December that those offenders will not play in the New Year!
Congratulations
A very warm well done to Sarah Collings who has very recently passed her level 2 umpiring qualification. Sarah hasn't been umpiring for long and is climbing the ladder at great pace, fantastic work, well done indeed. All the best from the Leighton Buzzard Hockey members past and present.

A great day had by all who attended, the weather was kind and 'Grow Your Own' had dressed the pitch brilliantly; banners, streamers, penalty flick competition and some huge England Hockey Sails.
Fitness Training
Fitness has started at Vandyke School from 7pm sharp. Training will then be on a Tuesday and Thursday every week after this start date. Sessions are open to the whole club (ladies section included) and will continue into the 2010/11 season. Keep update via the Facebook page, it's often weather dependent. Follow the link here

CLUB & SOCIAL Social events for the 2011-12 Season are being posted on a regular basis. We really want you, family and your friends to come along, this is our club and we've got to keep it alive. If Eddie's MC it's always a fun night! Please make sure Leighton Town Football Club application forms are completed and returned with the correct monies, £10 Adults and £5 for Juniors, Students and Job Seekers. Football club membership is renewed on a 12 month basis. Team captains are responsible for making sure all team members have a current/valid subscription from September each year. Any questions or queries talk to Dave Wavish (membership secretary). |
CLUB TRAINING Tuesday & Thursday Nights - Vandyke School. Men's 1's & 2's and Ladies 1's and 2's now train together on Tuesdays with the other Men's & Ladies teams training on Thursday evenings. If you've just moved to Leighton Buzzard and want to join a sociable well established club then do come and see us. Players of all skill levels, male and female, we'd love to meet you! Junior Training, again at Vandyke School. Start dates have been been confirmed, Sunday 11 September and usually 0930am - 1100am.
