Leighton Buzzard Mens 1st v Oxford Mens 4th

Leighton fresh off a derby win last weekend over Milton Keynes faced off against Oxford this weekend, the game was a quick pace with the Oxford keeper rejecting early chances from Leighton buzzard for the lead but pressure eventually told, Man of the match Will
Giltrow's long ball up to the Strikers saw David Fry and Tristan Hardy play a neat one-two inside the Oxford D Fry diving in front of the keeper to put the buzzards 1-0 up, Leighton upped the pressure and before they knew it they were 2-0 up Mark Stephenson placing a ball through to Tristan Hardy who placed the ball into the netting.

The 2nd half saw Leighton having to contain Oxford a lot more than in the previous half Tim Bellamy, Dan Edwards and Jack Gorton at the heart of the defence more than once having to contend with an Oxford counter-attack. Eventually Oxford broke and with
Leighton committed upfront Buzzard Keeper Jacob Bradding was left alone to face a one on one with the Oxford Striker slipping the ball round an out stretched leg and into the goal 2-1. But Leighton were to strike again when a ball from Tristan Hardy found Ben Smith in front of goal who flicked the ball past all that stood between him and the goal to put the Buzzards 3-1 up. The scoring wasn't over as the game drew to a close David Fry picking the ball up on the halfway line and battling past 2 defenders managed to slip a pass into an unmarked Tommy Lakins who guided the ball home to wrap the game up for Leighton.

Leighton have won their first two games of the season and next week travel to Staines for a late away fixture.
