The new league season started with a big derby game for LBHC when they travelled Milton Keynes. The short journey was a happy one for The buzzards as a quick start saw them take the game to Milton Keynes early on. Milton Keynes stand off tactics made them hard to break down but eventually Leighton Buzzard managed to win a penalty corner. A drag flick from Nick Marshall was stopped on the line by an MK body and as the home side seemed to stop, fearing having given away a penalty stroke, David Fry jabbed the ball over the line and the goal was awarded. MK began to push themselves into the game and if not for some great saves from man of the match Débutante Jacob Bradding the home team may well have been level before half time.

The buzzards led at half time and started the 2nd half holding the ball with the back 4 of Dan Edwards, Tim Bellamy, Jack Gorton and Will Giltrow passing the ball around between them as once again MK stood off the Leighton Buzzard defence. This was not to last when work down the sideline from Ben Smith put the ball through to Fry who broke into the D lifting the ball past the keeper from a tight angle for Tristan Hardy to hit home a second for the visitors. Leighton Buzzard made themselves solid behind the ball and a break from midfield play by Sam Gale & Mark Stephenson worked the ball through to Nick Marshall who's power ball across the face of goal was met by Tristan Hardy, Leighton in dreamland at 3-0. Leighton faced tough closing moments of the game MK eventually getting the ball into the goal when a loose ball in the area was tucked away. MK grew in confidence and pushed Leighton back trying to stop the Leighton escape by any means necessary. Matthew Franklin's quick stick skills resulting in a green card for one of the MK players trying to stop the quick break of the buzzards.

The Game ended with Leighton's lead in tact. A big derby day win.

Final score LBHC 1s 3 Milton Keynes 3s 1
