Leighton Buzzard men's first team travelled away to Wallingford on the back of 5 wins on the bounce.

Leighton started brightly but were unable to convert their early opportunities into goals. A lax in concentration allowed Wallingford to get back into the game and create chances of their own. Leighton overcame this and were soon on the score sheet through Chris Marshall. He coolly collected the ball from the keepers pads after a Tristan Hardy shot and lifted the ball into the net of the goal. This gave Leighton a boost and they soon doubled their lead through a Tommi Lakins screamer into the top right of the goal. As the first half drew to a close Gordon Brown had to leave the field of play after bravely taking a stick to the head preventing Wallingford from scoring their opening goal.

Leighton were guilty of starting the second half slowly and a strong Wallingford side capitalised on this to squeezed the ball past Leighton's outstretched goal keeper Alex White.
Wallingford continued to push Leighton hard, however strong battling from midfielder and Mortgage Advice Bureau Man of the Match Nick Marshall kept the home side at bay. Leighton's quick counter attacking style of play paid off once more with the younger of the Marshall brothers scoring his second of the day with a pin point deflection into the roof of the net.
A Wallingford short corner was well worked and enabled them to close the gap with another goal. However Leighton proved to be too strong for the home side and before the final whistle scored their fourth of the game through Sam Gale, who managed to take out a defender in the process as well.

This was Leighton's sixth win in a row and now sees them narrowly behind top the league Newbury and Thatcham by 4 goals.

Next week Leighton take on local rivals Milton Keynes at Vandyke in what historically has always been a tasty fixture in the season.
