Leighton played host to relegation battlers Wallingford, at Vandyke.

Leighton started the brighter of the two teams with Tommi Lakins pouncing on a poor touch by a Wallingford defender. Lakins then went round the keeper and smashed the ball high into the goal within the first minute of the game. This early goal seemed to spur the travelling side on and they were soon level, when a confused Leighton defence allowed a straight ball into the D for a Wallingford forward to touch in past Leighton keeper Alex White. Another lapse in concentration gave the visitors the lead. A stray pass from Leighton allowed Wallingford to attack in numbers and slot the ball once again into the home side's goal. From here neither side was able to find their rhythm. Until Mark Stephenson received the ball in the Wallingford D and smashed the ball past the outstretched keeper. With the half drawing to a close Leighton went back into the lead with Lakins scoring again with a well taken shot and to make it his second of the day.

Leighton pushed hard in the second half and made a number of chances, unfortunately it would be the visitors to score first from a penalty flick after a shot on goal landed on a Leighton defenders foot on the line. Back level Leighton now began to piece their passes together and a goal mouth scramble was finished in style when Mortgage Advice Bureau Man of the Match Tristan Hardy played the ball high and fast into the goal with the help of the cross bar. It wasn't long before the Buzzards would double their lead, with Sam Gale slotting the ball under the keeper. To further cement their lead Leighton went up two more in the closing minutes of the game. The first, a low drag flick from Nick Marshall and the second a well taken penalty flick from Marshall again.

A shaky start from Leighton saw them eventually come out of the game firmly on top, securing all 3 points. Next week Leighton take on local rivals Milton Keynes at Woughton on the Green.

Final score LBHC 7 Wallingford 3
