Leighton men's 2 was away at Old Merchant Taylor's this week hoping to continue where they left off the week before, after a fast start by OMT, Leighton started to get there passing together and cause problems for the home team which lead to LBs first short corner, which was put away by skipper Dave Jackson into the roof of the net. Once in front, Leighton pushed forward more, leaving gaps at the back which was dealt with expertly by the back 3, Dave Wavish, Tim Bellamy and Joe Giltrow, and with that the midfield grew in confidence, with Westley, Josh Wavish, Sturt Retford and his son Fraser Retford controlling the play.
The second half started the same as the first with Leighton on the attack, which lead to a break away goal, where Craig Westley picked up on a loose ball after tackling the defender on the halfway line, and drove towards goal, drawing the keeper out and slotting it to Jackson to make it 2-0, with that Leighton relaxed and started to play some good hockey with mom Matt Nash making some good runs into the d with Josh Gale, this was a well deserved win and will keep us on a good run for next week.
