Mens 2XI v Ramgarhia 2XI

Leighton were hoping for a early Christmas present against a good,skilful team. Leighton knew they had to bring their A game to this match, and right from the start Leighton got in their faces, and it wasn't long before Ben Smith scored, weaving through three defenders and slotting it in the bottom right corner, off the post and in. Leighton continued piling the pressure on, and the opposition didn't like it, and with that Ashley Barnett scored to make it 2-0. Leighton were cruising but took their foot off the gas, letting Ramgarhia back in with a short corner. The opposition pushed forward again but keeper Jim Galloway kept them at bay, with some great defending for Tim Bellamy, David Wavish, David Canty and Joseph Giltrow, but Ramgarhia managed to sneak a loose ball in which was quickly put away. Halftime came 2-2 and all to play for.
After some wise words from coach Ken Mounter, Leighton stepped up their game once again, causing Ramgarhia to crack, the opposition started to argue between themselves, where Leighton pounced on the opportunity with two quick goals from Barnett and Smith, 4-2 up and Leighton were hunger for more, after some great play from the midfield from Stuart Retford, Craig Westley, Marc Scott and Joshua Gale, all getting into space, running the opposition raged, and with that Leighton continued to break on the counter, where skipper David Jackson runs it up the wing, into the D, then looks up to see Barnett running in, so Jackson pushes it towards the back post for man of the match Barnett to score his hat trick. 5-2 and Ramgarhia had had enough, but Leighton had other ideas, and Leighton were rewarded with a short corner in the last minute. Jackson injected the ball into Wavish, where he gets his shot away only to be blocked and ricocheted to Westley, then Westley shots but it takes a deflection towards back post, where Jackson is waiting to slot it home and does. 6-2 and final whistles sounds.
