Men's 2XI v Marlow 4XI

Leighton started the game strongly, in a game where they knew they had to win, to keep them out of the relegation zone. It wasn't long before the home team started doing some slick passing and great team play up and down the wings from Marc Scott and Joseph Giltrow, Leighton continued to push forward and was rewarded with a short corner, skipper Jackson swept the ball to the top of the d where David Wavish hit it back towards the injector, where David Jackson deflects it into the goal. 1-0 up and Leighton were playing well. Marlow started to regroup and gain more possession and Leighton's defenders Tim Bellamy, Wavish senior, Oliver Parren and David Canty were put all to the test when Marlow were rewarded with a short corner of their own, which they converted. 1-1 and halftime came.
Second half began in a similar fashion to the first, with Leighton controlling the midfield with Stuart Retford, Josh Wavish and Matt Nash finding gaps for the forwards Ash Barnett, Joshua Gale and Fraser Retford. Marlow kept having the odd counter attack which lead to nothing. With about 10 minutes to go Leighton had pinned Marlow well into their own half, where Jackson received the ball on the wing and reverse hit into the d , where it bounced towards Stu Retford, who sweetly reverse hit into the bottom corner under a diving keeper. Leighton started playing the possession game, but still tested Marlow's defence. Jackson took the ball into the attacking corner hoping to waste some time, he managed to pass to Parren, who in turn passed it further back to Wavish senior, who hit the ball down the middle, where the opposing forward closed him down quick to pick the ball up, where he had a clean run to goal, one on one with Jim Galloway, and the forward calmly dummies Jim to go to ground and smashes it in the bottom corner. 2-2 and the whistle sounds. Leighton are now only 3 points clear from the drop zone with 2 games to go.
