Men comeback for a draw

After last weeks smash and grab, Leighton were looking confident. Buzzard started the game on the front foot, stringing passes together from the midfielders Joshua Farnfield, Daniel Lambert and David Hooker to forwards Fraser Retford, Craig Westley and Thomas Lakins, but it was long before GX got possession and put LBs defence Tim Bellamy, David Wavish, Will Jenkinson and Daniel Wright into action, and making goalkeeper Jim Galloway making a superb saves. Leighton continued to push forward but GX countered really quickly, where a quick ball through into the d got a deflection from a GX player beating Galloway. 1-0 down and still all to play for, LB still pressed forward and with the introduction of Matthew Nash, who silkily dribbled through a number of players, finding the forwards but to no avail. GX continued to counter so quickly, and with their pace, finding themselves in the d, where they got their shot away, only for Wright to step in front of Galloway and deflect it into his own goal. 2-0 down and halftime loomed, the whistle blew and the men gathered round their still injured captain Jackson.
After Jackson tweeking the formation, to fill the gaps where GX where having so much joy, Leighton started strongly, putting the opposition under a lot of pressure, forcing GX to make mistakes, but GX continued to break quick, but Methi's man of the match Bellamy had other ideas n stopped them in their tracks, and LB quickly got the ball up to Westley, who calmly took it round the keeper and reverse hit it into the goal. 2-1 and back in the game. Leighton knew they had to throw everything at GX, and that's exactly what they did, penning the opposition in their own half, attack after attack, and GX seemed to just soak it all up until Lakins picked up the ball and leathered the ball towards their keeper, where Westley was standing, with the pace of the ball zipping pass midfielders and defence, Westley deflected the ball into goal before anyone knew anything about it. 2-2 and not long to go. Both teams tried to get some passes together but it was all to late. Leighton travel to West Hampstead next week for another tough game, who are placed 2nd.
