Good team performance sees Buzzard to another win

Buzzard went into this game against bottom of the table full of confidence after a strong performance last week. Leighton pressed the opposition high right from the first whistle and it paid dividends within five minutes when Methi Man of the Match Craig Westley forced their centre back into a mistake and crossed for Daniel Lambert to finish.

After a period of dominance where Buzzard should have extended their lead, with a number of one on one position not being converted, Sonning began to believe that it could be their day. Buzzard's levels dropped off and allowed the Sonning midfield to start to dictate play, but the defence of Marc Scott, David Wavish, Will Jenkinson and Daniel Wright held firm. So it remained 1-0 at half time.

Buzzard knew that Sonning's confidence would be dented significantly if they could get an early goal in the second half and with a minor tweak to the formation, they piled the pressure onto the opposition. Tim Bellamy continually broke up play and following one tackle he drove at the D and unselfishly fed Lambert who finished with aplomb. Sonning's heads started to drop, with Joshua Farnfield and Martin Bailey working well with Bellamy to nullify any threat from their midfield. Leighton continued to press high and following another long corner, Bellamy fed Lambert who swivelled and in turn found an unmarked Westley who finished from a tight angle.

At 3-0, Buzzard relaxed and subsequently conceded following some sloppy defending where a number of players were unmarked, leaving Jim Galloway to pick the ball out of the goal. This acted as a wake up call and Buzzard held out to claim another three points. Leighton then turned it round and put all the pressure back on Sonning, and kept the ball parked in oppositions half with David Canty narrowly missing Fraser Retford at the back post. Buzzard who are now 4th in the table travel away to Phoenix and Ranelagh next week who are currently 8th.
