End to end game sees men jump to fourth

Leighton came into the game following an away defeat to Gerrard's cross hoping to get there high table finish back on track.

The warm up, which was practically non existent. Leighton needed a good kick up the backside. A few stern words from standing skipper Tim Bellamy is just what they needed!

They knew they game would be tough from the off and West Hampstead didn't disappoint. On the front foot from the off but thanks to a solid back 4 and a goal Keeper who didn't look like conceding, Leighton held firm. Once they found their feet everything seemed to lift. MOM Fraser Retford (thoroughly deserved) tearing the oppositions full backs to shreds with pace and skill, unfortunate not to find a Leighton forward on numerous occasions from great work on the right, as the half came to a close. Having won the ball back on the half way line Daniel Wright broke, beating a couple of players putting the ball into the D, striker Robin Lowth, won a goal mouth scramble only for his effort to to some how stay out hitting the post from what seemed to be the keepers pad.

Half time 0-0

Second half. More defending. David Wavish making what seemed to be a fair tackle but going to ground resulting in a yellow card... Bellamy switches to centre half along side Will Riley who gave their striker no room all game. Will Jenkinson at right back, played out of his skin. When Leighton switched gears. West Hampstead couldn't handle them. Slick play from David Hooker and Matthew Nash, Got Leighton high up the pitch. Following a 1-2 between Fraser and Nash. Nash stuck on a foot for a short corner. Injection. Good. Stop. Even better. To Bellamy. Drop of the shoulder. Sells the defender. Reverse strike in to the far corner. Fantastic. 1-0 Leighton. Leighton then held firm, Kane Sanders on the right having played well throughout, tracked well. Leighton pushed for a second, unlucky not to do so with the keeper making some good and vital saves from Robin. With 5 to go, Leighton conceded a short, flicked towards the top corner, massive save from Jim Galloway kept Leighton 1 up.

Final whistle blew! 1-0. Great win against West Hampstead who were second at the start of play. Leighton up to fourth!
