On Saturday 3rd October Leighton Buzzard Men’s 2s played away against Marlow in a tight match which ultimately resulted in a 2-0 loss for the Buzzards. The game began with an early break for Leighton but the forwards were unable to convert the opportunity into a score. Play went back and forth between the two ends until Marlow were able to create an opportunity to put a goal on the scoreboard in the middle of the first half. Shortly after taking the lead, Goalkeeper Jim Galloway was penalized for taking out an attacker and a penalty flick was awarded against Leighton; keeping his cool and remaining focused, Jim calmly saved the flick to maintain the 1-0 scoreline. As the half time whistle drew nearer Leighton created many chances but couldn’t score. Early in the second half, Marlow managed to snag another to extend their lead to 2-0. Buzzards continued to fight a hard battle and made it difficult for Marlow to increase their lead further. Despite upping their game and creating many chances, Leighton found themselves goalless at full time and with their first defeat of the season. Everyone played a great game with Man of the Match going to Jim Galloway.
