Leighton remain top with a good performance against promotion challengers

Leighton started the match strong against Wallingford, after last weeks disappointing 2-0 loss. Leighton caused the opposition problems with their movements off the ball, and it wasn’t long before Buzzard got the first goal with Tim Bellamy firing the ball towards David Jackson, who stopped the ball dead from about the p spot, and then reverse flicked it into the net, flying past the keeper. 1-0 up and Leighton continue to press Wallingford into making mistakes, and with that they passed the ball off the sideline on the 23, Man if the Match Fraser Retford passed the ball to Damian Glendenning, who flew passed the defence making it a 2 on 1 against the goalkeeper, where he unselfishly passed to Matthew Nash for a open goal, making it 2-0. Halftime.

Wallingford came out of the blocks running and got a penalty corner which they converted, putting the ball into the bottom right corner. So Leighton pulled theirselves together and pressed forward again, attack after attack but Wallingford were holding strong, until Retford found Nash and then fires the ball into the bottom left corner making it 3-1 to conclude the game. Great team performance and still top of the table.
