Wycombe 5 3 - 2 Leighton 3s

As with the last couple of weeks Leighton 3s, fielded a much changed side and as a result fell behind to two quick goals. Despite some spirited defending Leighton could not keep out a quick and determined Wycombe side. However as in the previous weeks Leighton finally began to settle down and put pressure on Wycombe. There was some good passing which saw Leighton progress into Wycombe's half and then into their penalty area. Leighton 3's record of scoring from short corners is not good however this time, following a couple of misses, a short corner hit out by Stuart Hart found Nick Marshall who with an emphatic shot scored to open up the game for Leighton. The half ended with Leighton easily holding their own.

Again from the start of the second half Leighton pushed for a goal and although the game became very much end to end Leighton were looking increasingly dominant. Then tragedy struck when a failure to clear the ball after a Wycombe attack had broken down led to a short corner. From this Wycombe scored their third. Leighton's heads did not go down and again they put the pressure on Wycombe who began to look unsettled . With a short corner being awarded Nick Marshal received the ball again from Stuart Hart and deceived the Wycombe defence by not shooting but passing it back to Hart who scored with a shot pushed around the corner post. With their tails up Leighton pushed again but could not score. A really good performance from the 3s who if they could get a settled team would climb the league ladder again.
