A disappointing result saw Leighton drop points away at Oxford. Though Leighton created goal scoring opportunities they didn’t take them and that proved costly. The home side scored through a short corner midway through the first half and held that advantage until half-time.
In the second half, Leighton’s defence fought well and the attack came close to equalising but couldn’t force the ball home. The home side wrapped up the points in the final minute; Oxford were fortunate to win the ball in their own twenty three but then executed a quick break away and finished well, to complete the win. Leighton’s players of the match were Alex Hewett and Grant McWalter who took the fight to the opposition with a great balance of attacking running and quick distribution.
