Ramgarhia Slough 0 - 5 Leighton Buzzard 3s
Leighton made the best possible start, taking the lead after twenty seconds: Peter Gale created space at the top of the 'D' and fired the ball low to the keeper's right. There were no further goals in the first half, despite some fast counter attacking hockey from both sides, with Tom Rudden and Tom Handley going closest for the 3s.
Injury deprived Ramgarhia of players and Leighton were gradually able to take advantage. With fifteen minutes to go Chris Bourne fired the ball across goal for an on rushing Jacob Townson to calmly deflect the ball over the line; his first goal for Leighton. Leighton sensed opportunity and a great passing move between Kane Sanders, Gale and Gary Avery eliminated the Ramgarhia keeper and allowed Tom Rudden to add Leighton's third. Rudden continued Leighton's goal scoring, converting crosses from Handley and Avery. Rudden's hat-trick deservedly earning him the man of the match award.
A great team performance to start the year.
