Fledglings lose out to skilful Wycombe

Wycombe 6s 3 - 0 Leighton Buzzard Fledglings

The Fledglings endured their most disappointing result of the season when losing to a skilful Wycombe side.

The Fledglings came closest to scoring in the early exchanges, when a short corner move saw Stuart Retford's goal bound shot deflected just wide by the advancing keeper. Despite more Leighton pressure and further short corners Leighton couldn't make the breakthrough and it was these missed opportunities that would ultimately prove costly.

Just before half-time Wycombe scored and that meant Leighton had to regroup and go again after the break. Most of the second half was even, with Leighton's players of the match, Andrew Barton and Owen Crossan, working hard to take the attack to Wycombe. However Leighton were unable to get an equaliser and began to tire in the last 10 minutes. At that stage Wycombe showed their superiority and scored two late goals to make their win secure.

While it was a disappointing result for the Fledglings there was no disgrace in losing to a good team, who were better on the day.
