Friendly win sees a positive end to 2015

St. Albans 8ths 2 – 3 Leighton Buzzard Fledglings

The Fledglings played a friendly against a team made up of of St. Albans 8th team and Centurion players.

Leighton started positively and were on top in the first ten minutes. However, it was the home side who took the lead. A great passing move was finished by an expert shot that then gave St. Albans the advantage. The Fledglings worked their way back into the game and equalised when James Trumper’s cross-shot was controlled by William Giltrow and steered past the St. Alban’s keeper.

With Leighton’s player of the match, Tom Billington, driving Leighton forward from midfield the Fledglings started to create more chances. Finishing the first half with a goal, as Matt Carter crossed for Trumper to fire home Leighton’s second.

Leighton further increased their lead midway through the second half when Trumper passed to Carter who fired in a shot from the left of the “D” past the stranded St. Albans’ keeper. Though the Fledglings created further chances they didn’t add to the score and a nervous final few minutes were endured after St. Albans scored their second with ten to go.

In the end, the Fledglings saw out the game for their fourth win in a row. Thanks to our hosts for a great game and for the fixture we hope to paly again in the future.
