Leighton Buzzard Ladies 2s - 6
Broxbourne ladies 3s - 2
The ladies twos returned to winning form with a thrilling 6-2 win over Broxbourne. Leighton pressed high from the start, quickly winning a short corner which Player of the match Katie Jackson struck into the bottom left corner to give an early lead. Leighton doubled their lead a few minutes later with Sarah Ayres intercepting a 16 yard hit, taking on the keeper before slotting it over the line. Leighton continued to dominate, however, just before half time a break by Broxbourne saw them get a goal against the run of play. The first minutes of the second half saw a short corner being conceded by Leighton, leading to a serious case of squeaky bum time at 2-2. Leighton however showed their determination in battling back, working to regain their domination and retaking the lead with some lovely movement and a goal from Lucie Webster. Back on top, Leighton remained that way, winning a penalty stroke that Jackson converted with ease, followed by another short corner goal for her third. The closing minutes saw continued pressure from Leighton, and Jackson made it 6-2 with a reverse stick flick that will be hard to beat for goal of the season.
