Letchworth Ladies 2s - 0 LBHC Ladies 2s - 6

Leighton Buzzard ladies twos returned to winning form in style with a 6-0 win away at Letchworth. Leighton got off to a good start, pushing forward, and had much of the run of play in the opening minutes. They were unlucky not to open the scoring when a long ball through found Sharon Avola in space, running up the wing before crossing to Lucie Webster who unfortunately put it wide. Leighton's pressure continued, and they found their first goal through Sarah Ayres, cooly taking on the goalkeeper to put Leighton ahead. The goal revived Letchworth, and defenders Andii Chandler and Lisa Patrick were called into action to keep them at bay. Letchworth were awarded a flick from their pressure, which player of the match Amber Kelly calmly saved. Within two minutes, Leighton were awarded a flick of their own when Ayres was taken out by the keeper, which Katie Jackson converted with ease. Leighton's midfield put the pressure back on, with Emily Smith, Chloe Alecock, Suzy Mounter and Chrissie Dixon pressing hard and passing the ball well across the pitch to keep Letchworth in their own 25. This paid off, when the ball got to Webster, weaving around players and slotting the ball into the corner to make it 3-0 at half time. Leighton began the second half with the same pressure, winning a short corner that Sally Retford fired hard into the D, which unfortunately fell foul of an odd umpiring decision. Undeterred, Leighton pushed through, keeping up their passing game. Webster found the backboard again, followed by Ayres once again beating the keeper one on one. Letchworth picked up, and had the run of play for a spell, the defence and keeper Kelly being called into action again, before getting the ball to Webster for her hattrick and to make the final score 6-0. Leighton still sit second in the table, and looking to cement this at home against Tring next week
