Leighton Ladies 3rd XI were playing away at Royston against their 2nd team. After a good warm up to get them into the game mind set, Leighton were feeling confident about the new team set up and working together well, putting the training into practice.
Royston came out strong with a lot of pace to their advantage however when Leighton used their skills and quick balls were able to get round the players confidently and put pressure on their defence. Royston managed to break through after some brilliant saves from keeper Amber Kelly and scored the first goal. After more hustling, they scored the 2nd bring it to 2-0 at half time.
Leighton kept trying and passing the ball around players but after some near misses from Royston, they scored their 3rd goal. As the 2nd half went on, Leighton became a bit tired because of the fast pace they had to keep up with but kept on it and great passes running up the wing, trying to pass the ball in but unable to convert it into a goal. The final score was Royston 5 – 0 Leighton. Overall, a good game, the score card doesn’t reflect how well the team did as a whole, still settling into their roles and working together as a team.
