Great team effort brings 4-1 win!

Ladies 3s were at home for the first time in a while on a wonderful sunny afternoon for a must-win game. The team has had a string of frustrating matches where the score line did not reflect the effort put in by all the players and so with the relegation zone looming the whole squad was ready to go out hard. That was exactly what they did within a couple of minutes it was clear that the Leighton ladies were on fine form. Neve Cox was ready and waiting in the D as an early cross meant the home side was up 1-0. Tring were not going to take the early goal without fighting back and they had a few strong breaks with some fierce and fast play leaving defenders Debbie Knight and Katie Hill sliding into tackles and coming away with some cuts and bruises. The defense held the away side at bay and Emma Selfe’s beautiful position on the pitch was maximised as she scored a second goal. Spirits were high as the first half drew to a close and Selfie doubled her score line to make it 3-0. The Leighton side took a while to settle into the second half which meant a lucky goal from Tring was conceded early on. Leighton Buzzard picked themselves up and was awarded a string of short corners in a row which Sarah Ayres converted in a classic first strike belter! MOM was jointly awarded to the Knight’s Debbie and Harriet for their strong game-making play. 4-1 to Leighton 3’s well done to everyone and thanks to supporters on the sidelines!!!
