Leighton Buzzard ladies 4 V chiltern 3
Leighton Buzzard 4 1 v 4 Chiltern 3
A rapidly developing Leighton Buzzard side travelled to Luton this week, with Emma Clagget standing in last minute as Goalkeeper. Leighton Buzzard held possession for the majority of the first half, with some excellent runs up the right wing by Kelly Bryant. Some unfortunate mistakes gave Chiltern a number of short corners, but these were solidly defended – with Amani Hoque making some fantastic runs out – and Leighton admirably resisted the attacking pressure, leading to the first half ending at 0-0.
A slight re-shuffle for the second half initially proved a little troubling for the away team, and Chiltern scored three goals in the first few minutes of the second half. Determined not to be brought down, the Leighton side came back fighting and displayed some excellent use of the wings to mount several attacks on goal; a skilled shot from Ella Keenagh, ably supported by Jess Dillon, gave Leighton a well-deserved start at evening the score.
Great defending throughout from Judith Parrott, Amani Hoque and Lottie Baxter held off Chiltern until later in the game, while Rachel Drohan made some very skilful runs down the line and Jessica Weedon as centre mid displayed excellent reading of the play and great positioning.
Sadly, Chiltern broke through Leighton’s defence one last time, rendering the final score 4-1. Overall this was a match with some excellent play from the whole team, and the score does not reflect the possession, opportunities created and effort put in by the Leighton side!
