On a cold Saturday afternoon Leighton Buzzard Fledglings team were victorious against Berkhamsted Hemel 4's, gaining their first, well deserved win of the season. The home game for LB started strong with Ella Keenagh scoring the first and only goal allowed for Leighton Buzzard, early in the 1st half. Morale was high and despite no further goals being allowed, it was by no means an unexciting match. With Jo Wells, LB goalkeeper taking out a Berko player during a sliding save and 3 disallowed LB goals off of short corners when the umpires did not play advantage. Leighton Buzzard dominated the possession, with Neve owning the centre, Foxy's leading role in defence and Rachel Drohan, nominated Dame of the Game, making some great tackles and runs. Kelly Pratt played her first game for LB, picking up some great balls as a forward. Unfortunately the final score did not fully represent the strong control LB had of the game.
Berkhamsted and Hemel 4's struggled to keep the ball near the Leighton Buzzard goal and couldn't see past their oppositions sea of yellow shirts, with Berko supporters heard to be shouting things such as 'there are 3 yellows between you and the ball' - that's what we like to hear!
