After an anxious start due to a previous defeat by St Albans 7, the fledging team had a positive start with a goal in the first 3 minutes, scored by newcomer Hazel in midfield. St Albans 6 was a young, strong team, however our defence worked hard. Foxy, in the middle, made lots of great stops in the D and Olivia, our goalkeeper made some fabulous saves, including at chest height. Our recent training on channelling allowed a couple of players to implement this skill, including defender Lottie. We managed to get a few short corners, with duo Judith and Ella working consistently to have some great chances in the D. Judith, making a run up the pitch, scored a disallowed goal, due to the whistle going for a short corner but she managed to follow it up with a well deserved goal off the short, set up by Ella's brilliant strike. It was a fast, exciting game, St Albans unfortunately managed to score a few more goals before half time. The second half was a lot better for Leighton Buzzard, with better marking and pressure, St Albans was only able to get one more goal making the score 6-2. It was an enjoyable game to play, well done ladies.
