I hope that everyone is enjoying their 2019/20 season so far.
We have welcomed new and returning players to the Club and the teams are training and playing well.
It seems an appropriate time of year to send a reminder out to all involved in the game that we must be respectful and support each other on and off the pitch.
England Hockey have a Respect Code of Conduct which I recommend everyone has a read of. It is broken down into sections depending on your role in the game but 10 minutes of your time having a read through will be 10 minutes well spent.
The general principles that we, as a committee would like to draw your attention to:
• Respect the spirit of fair play in hockey. This is more than playing within the rules. It also incorporates the concepts of friendship, respect for others and always participating with the right spirit.
• Respect the rights, dignity and worth of others.
• Conduct themselves in a manner that takes all reasonable measures to protect their own safety and the safety of others.
• Promote the reputation of the sport and take all possible steps to prevent it from being brought into disrepute.
• Protect themselves and others involved in the game from verbal or physical abuse and threatening or intimidating behaviour.
• Never use inappropriate language or gestures.
• Abide by the EH Safeguarding and Protecting Young People in Hockey Policy and Procedures and Good Practice Guidelines.
• Abide by the EH Equality Policy.
• Abide by the EH Anti-doping Rules.
• Take personal responsibility to ensure that they are suitably insured for their activities.
If you ever have any concerns or need to speak to anyone, please go to your Captain or Section Captain and they will do everything they can to help you or point you to another committee member who can.
