Leighton can feel disappointed not to have got something from this game. Player of the match performances from the hard tackling Clive Warncken and the hard running Tom Handley could not quite overcome a young and skilful Slough side.
The only goal of the match came early in the second half. Leighton keeper Jim Galloway was outstanding throughout the game but was unsighted early in the second half when, from behind a defender, Slough fired a shot across his goal, and past his outstretched stick.
Well done to Slough, who play some excellent hockey but unlucky for Leighton who nearly equalised at the death, when Peter Gale deflected Howard Gregory's goal bound shot just wide.
