The Ladies 1st XI played at home against Stevenage 1's - all working hard until the final whistle. The girls knew that it was going to be a tough game and a test to see which team wanted the win more than the other team. Leighton Buzzard conceded a couple of short corners early doors but they soaked that up and turned the pressure around on Stevenage. Gabbie Avola was where she needed to be in-front of their keeper and she volleyed the ball into the back of the net.
Throughout the game Charlotte Dashwood and Hollie attacked the keeper with some lovely shots. However their keeper played well and it was difficult to get another goal passed her.
The team started the second half well and produced a lovely team goal with Charlotte Ashton driving up the right-handside. The final ball came from Gemma (her second assist) and Kathy slotted the ball away to put the team in the lead 2-0.
Tired legs were beginning to show and unfortunately the team conceded a goal after a short corner, despite our dynamic keeper Asta saving the initial strike.
The girls kept the crowd on edge but battled until the end and came away with three points. 2-1 final score. Thank you to our umpires Katie Jackson and Dan Edwards. Player of the Match Gemma.
