Leighton Buzzard Ladies 1s faced a tough away fixture against St Albans on a very wet and windy day.
Leighton set up well and made a positive start against a strong St Albans team with opportunities at both ends but it was St Albans who found the net first. Leighton continued to soak up a lot of pressure from the home team with some determined defending and great saves from Asta. Leighton almost equalised through a fantastic reverse effort from Charlotte Dashwood which narrowly flew over the bar. The team were unlucky to concede a second just before the break in a well fought first half for the visitors.
St Albans came out fighting in the second half and scored 3 goals in a dominant 10 minutes for the home team. Leighton Buzzard didn't give up and continued to press forward. Their efforts were rewarded through player of the match Kathy Connolly-Livings sweet strike from a short corner. Leighton continued to threat and scored again after some determined play from Hollie Taylor on the back line which saw her slot the ball home from a tight angle.
St Albans scored again in the final minutes making it 6 2 to the home side.
Player of the match was Kathy who worked tirelessly in midfield.
