Leighton looked to built on their five star performance last week against Broxbourne. Having started brightly and pushed their opposition back for the first quarter, Broxbourne hit Leighton on the break and managed to get a goal with their first real effort on target.
Leighton's heads did not drop after this goal and they kept up the pressure and had numerous chances to equaliser but were thwarted by good defending, a lack of luck and some wasteful finishing.
Broxbourne started to challenge Leighton and had a few clear chances to score but Emma Evans managed to keep them at bay.
After some good play from the Leighton forwards they finally got an equaliser when Anna Carter found Katie Jackson who full of confidence after her quick fire hat trick last week smashed the ball into the bottom corner following a deflection off a Broxbourne shinpad.
Leighton pushed for a second and the three points that would have meant they were up to second but to no avail. They had to settle for a point and will look to get back to winning ways at Vandyke next week.
