With back to back away fixtures, Leighton travelled down to Hertford this week to take on the current top of the table.
Despite the torrential downpours all morning, there was a brief burst of sunshine for the start of the match. The first half saw beautiful linking play from the backs all the way forward, working in commanding triangles around their opponents. In the dying moments of the first half, Hertford found the backboard after several short corners.
Having sustained a couple of injuries in the first half, Leighton started the second a little gingerly, with movement of positions, it took a little while to settle. Frustratingly, during this time, Hertford found their stride and they successfully scored two further goals. Leighton recombobulated and looked dangerous on their attack, but the Hertford defence was just too solid to penetrate and score.
A frustrating score line that didn't really reflect the efforts on the pitch, but a super show of strength from everyone playing today.
