Sunday 22nd March: What a day for our U16s! ????
The Leighton Buzzard Hockey Club U16 Boys Team travelled to Peterborough for the Tier B East of England tournament - and came home as CHAMPIONS! ?
Under the brilliant guidance of coach Clare Fitzboydon, they showed resilience, teamwork, and real character throughout the day.
They kicked things off with a thrilling 2–2 draw against St Albans, fighting back from two goals down thanks to strikes from Tom Bowerman and Alex Ferguson - a fantastic display of determination.
Next up, a hard-fought win over Waltham Forest, sealed by a crucial goal from Nathan Bellamy.
That set up a nail-biting final match against City of Peterborough - winner takes all. Worth noting this was a very strong Peterborough side who had reached the semi-finals of the National Vase just last week. With everything on the line and the clock ticking down, Leighton dug deep and found the moment that mattered… Jack Ambrose slotting home the winner in the final three minutes to seal the title in dramatic fashion! ?
An outstanding team performance from start to finish - full of grit, belief, and quality. And a special mention to Harrison Fitzmorris who stepped up as goalkeeper - playing his first game with the squad.
The future is bright for this group… and we couldn’t be prouder!
