Teams from Bedford, Leighton Buzzard, Olney and Shefford & Sandy, took part in the hockey festival at Vandyke Upper School. The played a series of games of ten minutes, one-way and despite the rainy weather, the quality of play, passion and enthusiasm from players from all clubs was of the highest order.

It’s also great credit to the coaches of all the clubs, who looked after the teams so well, and to see their players doing their best to play well and support each other.

The key thing with a festival is that we make sure that we get as many players participating as possible and having the chance to play hockey and while there are no winners as such, much praise goes to all the visiting teams: Bedford who brought three teams and performed strongly throughout, to Olney who ordinarily have to train indoors and to Shefford and Sandy for their strong competitive play also.

Thanks go to the parents, families and friends that came down and offered positive support. Special thanks to the Leighton Buzzard organisers and volunteers, who helped run the tournament, umpire, provide refreshments from the club house and welcome our guests from other clubs.

Final thanks to the players and coaches of Leighton Buzzard under 10s, that help make Sunday hockey mornings a special event. We look forward to continuing seeing all the players grow and develop their hockey skills during the season.
