The team travelled to Sonning expecting a tough and close game. This turned out to be an accurate assumption, with both teams attacking from the off, leading to a few holes in both teams defences - with the home team being the first to capitalise through a tidy finish. This kicked Leighton into life, and led to a period of high pressure from the visitors, with all but the final touch in place. Just before half time, Nick Marshall recently converted a penalty corner leading to the teams going in level at the break.
The second half started the same way as the first, with both teams looking for the breakthrough. Although Leighton had some excellent chances through combination play between Tommy Lakins and Tristan Hardy, it was the home team to strike next. The score remained at 2-1 through to the end, although both teams could have scored multiple goals but for excellent work at the back.
Final score Sonning 2 -1 Leighton Buzzard
