A tricky trip away to league leaders West Hampstead was in store for the
low lying Buzzards but they got off to a great start thanks to some composed finishing from MOM Mark Stephenson and a neat deflection from Nick Marshall following great improvisation from Tommy Lakins. The Buzzards good first half performance continued so more goals were inevitable. They came in the form of a trademark Ben Smith far post tap in followed by a David Fry effort that found its way in to the goal. West Hampstead pulled a goal back by half time but apart from that a brilliant first half performance. 4 -1 to Leighton. Surely they couldn't throw the lead away?
However West Hampstead came out pumped up and ready to take the game to
the Buzzards and despite some valiant last ditch attempts to stop the onslaught the goals came pouring in. Before the Buzzards knew it they were 6-4 down.
On the upside Tommy Lakins scored a late consolation but it was to little to late. Buzzards have yet another tricky away trip to Wallingford and will need to produce the same attacking flair in order to break down one of the meanest defences in the league.
