This was the first league fixture following the Christmas break and it showed. Leighton Buzzard started slowly and seemed to be half a yard off the pace. Despite this the defence stood solid for a large period of the first half. Unfortunately despite their best efforts Leighton conceded a goal just after they’d started to get a foothold in the game. A second goal was to follow before the half time whistle.
The second goal seemingly shook Leighton into life as they started to play some of their best hockey of the game with some slick attacking play from Matt Nash. In addition to this there was some good wing back play from Daniel Wright and Will Jenkinson. Despite the improvement in their play Leighton found themselves 3-0 down. Leighton persisted continued to press for goals and were rewarded when Joshua Farnfield scored with a close range effort at the back post.
Leighton put this week down to rustiness and will endeavour to be back to their best next week when they face Ramgarhia at Vandyke School.
