After a dominant performance last week, Leighton travelled for Wallingford for another important game to keep the pressure on Marlow at the top of the league. Leighton started slowly, not playing their usual game. Wallingford were made to look good by leighton giving the ball away sloppily and not taking their chances, and were 1-0 down to a cheap short corner, and were lucky to go into the break only 1-0 down. The team stepped up in the second half, with much faster movement of the ball and better play all around. The defence stood strong against the Wallingford attack, pushing the team forward, whilst the midfield of began to run the game. Before long, a short corner was won for Leighton, and a lovely one-two between Tim Bellamy and Matthew Nash gave Leighton a deserved equaliser. Leighton pushed on, and should have secured the leading goal earlier on, however Finley Bell-Taylor and Steve Fuller were wasteful with their chances. With 5 minutes left, good interplay around the Wallingford box resulting in Bell-Taylor finding Damian Glendenning in the box who found the backboard. Wallingford pushes for the equaliser however the midfield and defence stood strong. Galloway produced some fine saves at the end to ensure the 3 points stayed with Leighton. Overall, an underwhelming performance however leighton still managed to find the 3 points. Next week sees Leighton Mens 2s play Ramgarhia at home, where they will aim to continue their winning streak and push for promotion
