Leighton taught a lesson by league leaders

As Leighton arrived late in the day to Reading Hockey Club they were ready to put last week behind them and go against the new team in front of them.

The game started slowly with Leighton passing the ball and trying to create some plays, then after a turnover of possession Reading broke through and scored their first goal, now with the momentum on their side they quickly took advantage and scored another goal in the first half, Leighton did well to defend for the remainder of the half and stopped the rest of Reading teams attacks, after a talk about what Leighton needed to improve on and what we could do to get their attacks through at half time they went back out onto the pitch ready for the second half, unfortunately Reading quickly seized momentum again and scored another 3 goals over the second half, nearing the end of the game Leighton created a great chance with good passes and movement working from the defence all the way up through the Reading team to for Steve Fuller to put in a ball into the D for Chris Bourne to slap towards goal with it slipping past the opposition’s keeper but unfortunately hitting the post and getting cleared out.
This was Leighton’s last chance as Reading solidified their win with another goal before the final whistle was blown.
The final score was 6-0 to Reading hockey club.

Overall Leighton didn’t play too badly, but definitely have things that they need to make sure don’t happen next week in their next match.

And a well deserved man of the match went to Martin Bailey for a solid performance in midfield keeping up with the Reading players.
