Leighton started with last weeks victory fresh in their minds and hoping to repeat the same stunning result, however things turned out differently. From the start Leighton pressed the Wycombe goal but in doing so they left themselves open to the counter attack which is exactly what happened with Wycombe's youngsters proving to be faster than most of Leighton's midfield and defensive midfielders. It was only through the Stirling work of Leighton's defence which kept the goal tally to zero. Leighton's attacks whilst looking impressive did not seem to unduly worry the Wycombe defence. And so the attack followed by counter attack by both sides continued till half time.
The second half continued in the same vain with neither side really able to find the killer blow. Then half way through Leighton got a short corner which found its way past the striker to Ollie Reid who pushed the ball to Tom O'Reilly who struck a thunderous shot to score Leighton's goal. Wycombe recovered and pressed hard but Leighton's defence held. As the game finished Wycombe were awarded a series of short corners but the defence again kept Wycombe out.
