Leighton's Men's 3s 0 - 2 Wootton Wanderers 2s

A game of two halves really. Even though we lost this was a much better performance than last weeks debacle. Leighton started off brightly pushing into Wootton territory. But after 10minutes Wootton began to apply their pressure and although the defence held the signs were there of a goal coming and it did about the 15 minute mark when down their right flank Wotton stormed into the area. Although the Leighton goalie stopped the first attempt he could do nothing as the ball spun first off his stick then his pads into the goal. From the restart Leighton pushed for the equalise and had 3 short corners in quick succession but were unable to score and back came Wotton. From a short corner they scored passed an unsighted Leighton goalie. Again Leighton pushed but the half ended with what was really a mid field duel.

The second half was one of constant pressure by Leighton with the defence rarely troubled. Again Leighton were awarded short corners but could not score from them. Leighton's passing and pressing improved tremendously but the necessary goals escaped them. If the team continue to play like this then they will soon get back to winning ways.
