Leighton Men's 3 1 - 0 Leighton Fledglings(4s)

To get all our league games in before the end of the season the Men's 3s took on a double header this weekend. Our Sunday game was one delayed from earlier in the season due to a frozen pitch. Well Dear Reader a surprise for you an almost unchanged side from our Saturday match took to the field to take on a much improved, performance wise, Leighton 4th ( Fledgling) team. The Men's 3s knew they were in for a hard but fair match and that is what they got. To keep alive any remote chance of promotion Leighton's 3s needed to win. From the start Leighton were the more composed and aggressive side and the Fledglings attacks soon lost their potency however even though they have more possession, both territorial and ball wise, Leighton 3s found it difficult to score due to some very resolute defending and Goal keeping by the opposition, Then around the 20 minute mark Leighton were awarded a short corner and the same team work as yesterday led to Leighton's goal with the ball pushed out to Dave "Hooky" Hooker by Stuart Hart who got the return pass from Hooker to slip the ball past the Fledgling's keeper to score Leighton's 3s goal. The rest of the first half carried on in a similar fashion with the 3s dominating the midfield and the Fledglings finding it increasingly difficult to get through.

The second half was a similar story. Leighton's 3s launched attack after attack, with only a few counters from the Fledglings, but the 3s could not put the ball in the net and that how the game very much ended. A hard fought but fair and enjoyable game The 3s march on and Dear Reader where will it end?
