At the start of the season Leighton Buzzard travelled to Milton Keynes and came back with a 5-1 victory; this match had Milton Keynes arriving to Vandyke with a point to prove.
Right from the start Leighton Buzzard played with real purpose; with a high attacking line and using the width of the pitch it really placed Milton Keynes on the back foot.
It was great to have some old players back....... you know who you are.... and it was only a matter of time before Leighton Buzzard had success with a well worked goal from Alex Dashwood.
Milton Keynes continued to work hard and had several speedy attacks, but once again Leighton’s defending showed both strength and experience. It seemed Leighton Buzzard were able to read their game, allowing them to intercept many of Milton Keynes passes.
The second Leighton Buzzard goal came from Howard Gregory after being awarded a short corner. Shortly after the 2nd goal and during the final stages of the first half a third goal was scored by Stu Taylor - it wasn’t a bad goal - who played a blinding game.
The second half saw Leighton lose some control, one of their players missed a great opportunity to go 4 nil up in front of an open goal......
Leighton Buzzards final goal came from Alex who secured his 2nd goal within the game. Milton Keynes had a huge opportunity after a certain goal was stopped by Leighton’s defence during a short corner, giving them a chance to score from a penalty flick.... thankfully George had it covered allowing him to finish the games with a clean sheet.
In summary Leighton had a great first half but lost some momentum during the second half, that said a 4 - 0 victory is a huge effort by the team.
