The Men’s 3's faced Maidenhead Monarchs this week (8 Feb 20) in a mid-table clash at their home ground. Leighton Buzzard came out hard, playing well from the outset and looking good on the pitch. Despite plenty of pressure into the opposition 23 yard area, the home team were unable to convert their efforts into anything substantial within the circle and so the score at half time remained 0-0.
Having suffered in previous games in the early stages of the second half, Buzzards came out after the break firing on all cylinders, putting together plenty of linked passes in the offence and some sound defensive play when under pressure in their own half. This really was a strong performance from Leighton Buzzard but without the final touches to enable the ball to reach its target in the circle. However, this was a real team effort this week and should give them the confidence needed for the remainder of the season.
Despite minimal activity in his own circle, the Buzzard’s keeper, George Hoskin, notched up another clean sheet this week, surely cementing his place as a top-rate goalkeeper in the club. The final score a disappointing 0-0 draw which certainly doesn’t reflect the hard-fought game on the pitch.
