Leighton Buzzard Ladies 1s were at home with a tough match against Shefford and Sandy, battling for 3rd place. Luckily the rain had stopped but there was still a strong wind and difficult playing conditions. The game started quite evenly with few chances created in the opening exchanges. Despite battling hard Leighton struggled to create much during the first half. In contrast the visitors managed to open up a 2-0 lead at half time with a penalty corner and a goal from open play. In the second half Leighton came out fighting and looked the most likely to score. The home team were given more hope half way through the second half when Lisa made an excellent save from a penalty flick. The remainder of the half was quite scrappy with Leighton battling hard to get back into the game. In the closing stages the visitors managed to score the second penalty flick of the game and Megan was unlucky not to save a fourth goal off the line. There were a few cards during the second half with some strong challenges going in. The home team did not deserve the 4-0 result but were not at their best for this match.
