Leighton Buzzard Ladies 1st XI played Saffron Walden 2’s at home on Saturday. The girls started from the start with discipline, commitment and some great communication. This proved difficult to play against and Saffron Walden didn’t seem to know how to get into the game. The home team kept up the pace of the game despite the warm weather and soon slotted home a couple of goals. Gabbie Avola with one and then Carolyn Pinky Floyd with a well played short corner.
The opposition, who are placed above Leighton Buzzard in the league were no walk over but girls had their sensible hockey heads on and worked as a team throughout. Hollie Taylor made some excellent runs upfront and scored the third goal. The final result was 3-0 to Leighton Buzzard 1’s and player of the match went to Megan Claggett for her commitment and tireless defending at the back.
Great team game, just one more game to play before the end of the season.
