L1’s vs Luton

Leighton Buzzard Ladies 1s arrived in Luton to a very windy pitch hoping to hold their place at the top of the table.

Although Leighton did not start the match at the top of their game, they battled hard to make it into the attacking D. Fortunately for Leighton a goal hungry Hollie Taylor nicely lifted the ball over the defenders to find the back of the net for the first goal of the match. Hollie Taylor then followed this up by converting her second goal from a short corner. Luton’s defence continued to work hard making it frustrating for Leighton’s attackers and the half time whistle went with the score remaining at 2-0.

A determined Luton side came fighting back in the second half, putting the pressure on Leighton to hold their winning lead. Despite Leighton’s midfield working hard with some great play up the left from Laura Keable, Luton managed to break through and converted their first goal. It wasn’t long before Luton bought the score line level at 2-2 with a beautiful deflection finding the back of the net. This focused Leighton who responded by working their way back up the field with Hollie Taylor scoring a critical 3rd goal from a short corner to bring us back on the front foot. Leighton didn’t stop there and kept looking for another goal and sure enough Scarlett Levett found the net for a 4th and decisive goal. Shortly after the final whistle was blown with the score remaining at 4-2.

The ladies travel away again next week to face West Herts.
