Ladies 1’s are still battling hard after the post-Christmas dip to secure promotion in a very tight table. This week they faced local rivals Tring away in miserable and wet weather conditions.
It wasn’t the prettiest of games to watch but Leighton secured two goals early on from Gabbie Avola who went on in the second half to complete her hatrick.
Leighton did well to meet a number of objectives set at the beginning of the match, the forwards aiming to be more composed on short corners. This was evident as Two of the 4 goals this week were from Short corner conversions.
The defence set out to protect the D and reduce short corners awarded against Leighton and succeeded in not conceding any throughout the match.
Hollie Taylor added the 4th goal and Charlotte Ashton was awarded Purity player of the match for her work rate, tackling and line clearances.
Next week Leighton face Potters Bar in a rearranged game as a result of the cold weather before Christmas.
