A sunny and hot October Saturday for the Ladies first team to meet a strong Wapping side but all players were up for the challenge. Leighton starting strong with the majority of possession. Wapping were very quick on the attack and just before half time Leighton found themselves 1.0 down. Leighton came out strong in the second half with lots of attacking play mainly down the right hand side. Wapping continued to pile on the pressure and after a flurry of opportunities converted to take the score line to 2.0. Leighton continued to battle upfront and were rewarded with a penalty corner 10 minutes before the final whistle. Kathy Connolly, who received player of the match, scored from a brilliant strike from the top of the D. With heads high and momentum in their favour, Leighton continued to drive forward but didn't manage to pull a draw back. A tough but enjoyable game for the ladies first team.
