Against a strong Thurrock side Leighton started confidently with some excellent linking play switching the ball well which kept Thurrock on their toes and earned Leighton the majority of the possession. A well worked goal from Kirsty Scrivner early on in the first half gave Leighton a well deserved lead. This lead was consolidated with a second goal from Hollie Taylor bringing the score to 2 0 at half time.
Thurrock came out strong in the second half and pushed Leighton back into their 25. Leighton defended deep which allowed Thurrock to apply increasing pressure and they were rewarded with a goal. Good marking and communication from the defence kept Thurrock out with the final score 2 1 to Leighton. A great team performance and a much needed 3 points.
