Leighton ladies 1’s travelled to Stevenage - a team we’ve been known to struggle against in the past so we knew we needed to bring our top game.
We started positive passing well with lots of movement from the forwards. It was tough getting up and down the pitch with a strong wind to contend with but Hollie helped us take an early lead with a quick goal.
First half ended 1-0. Stevenage didn’t waste much time in the second half coming out strong, and despite Charlotte stopping a ball on the line, they kept fighting and luckily got a scrappy goal.
Determined to get the win, Leighton fought hard. A long ball from the midfield straight to Hollie at the top of the 25 yard line led to a 1 vs. 2 but Hollie’s skill and patience saw her nip round the defender and secure the winning goal. Leighton sat right with safe and easy balls in the last 5 minutes to keep the win.
Leighton now sit 4th in the table going into a tough game next week against St Albans.
